Spreading Threads Clothing Bank, a nonprofit organization that provides free clothing to children living in foster care in Tucson and Southern Arizona, is just one of more than 1,000 charities encouraging Arizona residents to make a tax-deductible donation during Arizona Gives Day tomorrow, April 4, 2023.
The Arizona Gives program is run by the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits and the Arizona Grantmakers Forum. Launched a decade ago in 2013, Arizona Gives Day is an opportunity to connect people with causes they believe in to build long-lasting, positively-impactful philanthropy in Arizona. Since its inception, Arizona Gives Day has raised nearly $36.4 million for nonprofits statewide.
Through Arizona Gives, donors can set up a personal donor profile so they can track and manage their tax-deductible donations year-round. Arizona Gives serves to inspire people to give generously to a variety of nonprofits which make Arizona stronger by creating a thriving community benefiting those in need. Aside from donors feeling great about making a difference through donating, they can also benefit by reducing their Arizona state tax liability.
This year, Tucson-based Spreading Threads Clothing Bank has joined Arizona Gives Day as one of the charities to which people can donate. The mission of Spreading Threads Clothing Bank is to provide gently used and new clothing and other personal items to children living in foster care, adoptive homes, kinship placements, and group homes. Not only does this decrease the financial burden on the families supporting foster children, but more importantly, it provides foster children with clothing they can feel proud to wear, giving them a sense of dignity.
“Joining Arizona Gives Day allows Spreading Threads Clothing Bank and donors to be part of this incredible day of giving,” said Spreading Threads Clothing Bank Co-Founder and Executive Director Michele Wright. “With donations made to Spreading Threads, donors can benefit from a dollar-for-dollar reduction of their Arizona tax liability, but their donations to Spreading Threads allows us to do more for foster children throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona.”
Spreading Threads is an Arizona-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization as well as a Qualifying Foster Care Charitable Organization (QFCO). That means donors can increase their charitable tax donation for a dollar-for-dollar reduction of their Arizona state tax liability. Individuals may donate up to $500 each year while married couples filing jointly may donate up to $1,000.
The Arizona Foster Care Charitable Tax Credit is separate from other tax credits which means people can donate money in two ways to Spreading Threads to further reduce their state tax liability. The federal tax ID number for Spreading Threads Clothing Bank is 83-1151614 and its State of Arizona QFCO code is 10056.
