Spreading Threads Clothing Bank has been selected as the BIG GIVE recipient for the second quarter of 2024 by 100+ Guys Who Give Tucson, a local giving circle that supports nonprofits in Southern Arizona. The announcement was made at the quarterly BIG GIVE event last Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Brother John’s Beer, Bourbon & BBQ.
Spreading Threads Clothing Bank was nominated as a recipient for 100+ Guys Who Give Tucson’s quarterly BIG GIVE due to its nonprofit work as a clothing bank for foster children and the families who support them in Tucson and Southern Arizona. The 100+ Guys Who Give Tucson raised a total of $10,200 for Spreading Threads Clothing Bank.
“We can’t express our gratitude enough for all of the support from 100+ Guys Who Give Tucson as we work to provide the daily necessities foster children living in group homes, foster placements, kinship placements, and adoptive homes need,” said Michele Wright, Co-Founder and Executive Director for Spreading Threads Clothing Bank. “Not only does this allow our foster children who have already endured so much to feel valued, but it also supports our foster and adoptive families who care for them.”
Jon LePage, Founder of 100+ Guys Who Give Tucson, said there is a process by which nonprofits are selected for the BIG GIVE each quarter of the year. First, members of the nonprofit organization nominate nonprofit organizations in the community. Those nonprofits are put into a drawing and three are selected each quarter. The members who nominated each of those three organizations presents about their charity of choice and then the members vote on which charity will be the recipient of the BIG GIVE for that quarter.
“It’s incredible,” said LePage of Spreading Threads Clothing Bank being named this quarter’s recipient. “They do amazing things. They are helping foster kids get the things they need, clothes, backpacks, and more. We are incredibly happy our group has grown to where we are at. We have grown from about 35 members to 105 right now. It’s great that we have grown because we can give more.”
Wright said the funds will go toward purchasing items to replenish the clothing bank as well as some operating costs that keep Spreading Threads Clothing Bank open and operational for the foster children and families it serves.
“The money raised and donated by 100+ Guys Who Give Tucson will go a long way toward supporting our mission of fostering dignity in Tucson’s foster children,” said Wright. “We really couldn’t do what we do at Spreading Threads Clothing Bank without the support of our friends, neighbors, and other community organizations like 100+ Guys Who Give Tucson. The gratitude we have for them cannot be expressed in words. As they said, here’s to making a difference together!”
It is easy to get involved with 100+ Guys Who Give Tucson. Anyone who would like to help make a positive impact on the local community is invited to join.
